By default, formcycle sends e-mails in the workflow via the form.CLOUD mail-server. This mail-server limits the maximum email size to 20 MB. Therefore, only e-mails up to this size can be sent successfully by default.
If this limit is exceeded, an error will occur while processing the workflow. The error message "Error: message file too big" may appear then in the process-protocol.
Note: Large emails can easily occur when files uploaded via unrestricted upload fields are sent directly as email attachments.
Possible solutions:
1. Review the process
Is it really necessary to send the users uploaded files directly as email attachments? Could these files instead be processed in a inbox or stored in a document management system?
2. Restrict upload fields in the designer
You can further limit the expected and uploaded files in the upload field. Especially relevant are the options “Max. size”, “Extensions”, and “Compress images”.
3. Use Your Own Mail Server (recommended for internal IT infrastructure)
You can configure your own mail server in formcycle. Instructions can be found under: Client settings
